Spring 2026

Spring has officially come to New York City and I'm thrilled to share some exciting progress for the Cuban Art Song Project. Our latest newsletter edition went out this past week to our subscribers, but there was too much to share in a single email. Whether you are a longtime supporter or new to our musical family, this update offers a detailed look at what the Cuban Art Song Project has been up to and what we have planned.

Introducing Güiros & Guava

We are excited to share the launch of Güiros & Guava, the official podcast of the Cuban Art Song Project.

In our debut episode, Jon and Bella offer an introduction to the project and the inspiration behind its creation. The conversation provides insight into our mission to preserve, perform, and promote the rich tradition of Cuban art song, while also making this repertoire more accessible to performers, students, and audiences alike.

This first episode includes some familiar stories about Bella's history and the founding of our organization, along with an explanation of what the organization has accomplished in our first year. We also share several exciting announcements, (spoiler they are also found below).

The Theme of 2026: Education

As we look ahead to 2026, the Cuban Art Song Project has one central focus: education.

From the very beginning, our nonprofit’s mission has been to bring greater access, visibility, and voice to underrepresented repertoire. 2025 focused heavily on sharing this music through public performances and the release of our debut album, Se fue. We are launching some exciting initiatives to further the educational mission of CASP.

Announcing Our Multi-Volume Album Series

We are excited to announce a major new chapter in the Cuban Art Song Project: a long-term, multi-volume recording and sheet music series dedicated to tracing the history of Cuban song. We will embark on a four-volume anthology series, spanning distinct historical periods of Cuban song—from early classical works to jazz-influenced and modern styles. This project represents a sustained effort to document, contextualize, and share the breadth of Cuban art song in a way that is both artistically compelling and educationally impactful. Accompanying sheet music will be made available to conservatories, school music programs, and to the general public on our website.

Educational Outreach and Community Engagement

We are developing curriculums and partnering with other arts organizations to bring Cuban music directly into schools. Through these initiatives, students will have the opportunity to learn Cuban rhythms, melodies, and cultural traditions via interactive, age-appropriate programming.

Bella is in the middle of finalizing the details for CASPs first major educational partnership for the fall of 2026. As always, be sure to subscribe to be the first to hear updates.

A New Chapter as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit

We are proud to publicly share that the Cuban Art Song Project is now an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This milestone marks an important step forward, allowing us to expand our programming, deepen our impact, and invite greater community support for our mission.

If you support CASP's mission, we urge you to include us in your annual tax-deductible giving.

How to Get Involved

Since you've made it this far, here are several ways to deepen your involvement with CASP:

  • Attend upcoming concerts and events and bring friends.

  • As our educational resources become available on our website, share them with colleagues or organizations who might find them valuable.

  • Invite CASP to deliver a concert or provide educational programming for your school, church, or other arts organization.

  • Donate to help fund research, recording, and educational initiatives that expand the reach of our organization.

We are grateful for all of the amazing support we have received so far, and are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and generosity of the CASP community. Thank you!

Abrazos,

Bella

As we gather with family and other loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has given time, talent, and treasure to the Cuban Art Song Project this year. Together, we have achieved more than I could have imagined. This month, we want to say, "thank you" for helping us bring the music we all love to people around the world.

Highlights of the Year

This year, we offered concerts, established the CASP organization nonprofit, released our debut album, and hosted a vinyl release party for nearly 100 guests in person and online.

  • Concerts

Isabella and Pablo took the songs from "Se fue" to audiences in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Yonkers, and all over New York City. The full band re-assembled to partner with the Latin American Art Triennial to deliver an outdoor concert on Governor's Island.

  • CASP Organization

The Cuban Art Song Organization officially filed for nonprofit status earlier this year. We have a wonderful board of seven dedicated professionals with different areas of expertise.

  • "Se fue"

After months of planning, recording, and fundraising, CASP's debut album, "Se fue" is now available on all streaming platforms and on vinyl! Thank you to our record label, Lexicon Classics, our producers, and our engineer MP Kuo.

  • Vinyl Release Party

CASP supporters gathered at Culture Lab in Long Island City to celebrate the vinyl release of "Se fue." Isabella, Pablo, Taka, and Pedro played the entire album live for supporters in person and via livestream from all over the world.

How Your Support Made a Difference

Your support came in many forms: financial donations, attending our concerts, volunteering at CASP events, and sharing our music with friends and family. Your support helped us expand our offerings and reach new audiences:

  • Expanded Reach

Se fue has been streamed over 36,000 times on Spotify alone, reaching listeners all over the world. CASP has been especially popular with listeners in Mexico, the UK, Brazil, and the United States.

  • Podcast Appearances

Isabella and Jon have shared CASP's story on a number of podcasts, including "Between the Notes," "No One Wants to Hear That" and "VocalFri."

  • Sustained Growth

We have developed partnerships with art song series, latin cultural associations, and other arts organizations. We look forward to the many opportunities that these relationships will offer in the years to come!

Looking Ahead

We have many exciting things planned for 2026 that we look forward to sharing with you in the new year!

Final Thoughts

2025 has truly been the year of "Se fue," Between the digital release, promotion, and vinyl release, we have loved being able to share the music of Ernesto Lecuona and the story of CASP with the world. We are so thankful for your support and look forward to continuing this journey together.
